The Mumbai police should probably reconsider their claims of being more sensitive towards crimes against women, senior citizens and children. This, owing to the fact that they have not been able to crack the case of a senior citizen'smurder in Mulund (E) six months ago.

The deceased, 70-year-old Laxmi Naik, was found murdered at her residence at Gavanpada in Mulund (E) on April 16. Naik was allegedly gagged to death, before the murderers fled with cash and a pair of gold earrings.
As per the Navghar police, Naik, who lived with her younger sister, was visited by a couple with a child, who inquired about availability of a house for rent in the building. After the couple left, Naik's sister went out to run some errands.

In an attempt to crack the case, the cops had procured CCTV footage from the shop opposite the deceased's building. Interestingly, the clips showed the same unidentified couple and the kid roaming near the building around the time of the crime.

However, apart from this, the Navghar police seem to have reached a dead end, with no leads emerging in the investigation. R More, senior PI, Navghar police station, said, "Though it's been six months since the murder took place, we have left no stone unturned in acquiring any leads."

More added, "We believe that the murder was committed by someone known to the deceased, since there was no forceful entry in the room. It is likely that the robbery could just be an eyewash to deviate the police".
