The Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey (SNDT) Women's University has constituted a six-member committee to look into allegations against the warden, that she forcibly undressed a student at the college. The committee, headed by a retired judge, was constituted on Tuesday by the management council.

The six-member committee comprises five women, including an NGO worker, an advocate, a students' council representative, a retired police inspector and one chancellor nominee.

Dr Shashikala Wanjari, vice-chancellor of SNDT Women's University, said, "Zaveri has been working as the hostel superintendent at the university since 10 years. She has been suspended as of now. An enquiry committee will submit its report subsequently. We are cooperating with the police and are supporting the students in every possible way. Once the enquiry is over, necessary action will be taken against the guilty."

She added that the committee will also probe if there are previous issues being faced by the superintendent. The varsity has also planned an awareness programme to make girls and the staff more aware following this incident.

This apart, the varsity has also asked the government for a new hostel building. As for charges of water problems being faced by the varsity are concerned, Wanjari said there are no water issues, and that the Juhu campus has a laboratory where water is tested every month.
