Six arrested with forged Maharashtra government papers

The Antop Hill police on Thursday arrested a gang of six people who allegedly were involved in making forged documents with the logos of Maharashtra government on it. The police, during the raid, seized forged papers and the logos from the accused.

The Antop Hill police on Thursday arrested a gang of six people who allegedly were involved in making forged documents with the logos of Maharashtra government on it. The police, during the raid, seized forged papers and the logos from the accused.

The police had received information that six the accused, identified as Shahdab Naseem Khan, 24, Prabhulal Morbia, 54, Akhilesh Gupta, 27, Deepak Lokhande, 24, Devendra Mane, 24 and Mohammed Khan, 40, were involved in a racket of making forged government documents.

"We arrested the accused and recovered a voter card with a round logo of silver colour attached to it," said a police officer. "We have also recovered a number of other fake documents from the accused. We are now investigating from how long they have been doing this work," he added.

The police have also seized a school-leaving certificate of a Parel school, seven sheets of logos, each having 56 silver-coloured logos with Maharashtra Government written on them and some equipment from the accused.
All the accused have been booked for cheating and forgery. They were produced before the local court which remanded them in police custody till February 9.
