The Nationalist Congress Party lambasted the BJP-Shiv Sena government for its non-seriousness over the drought and farmer's issues. The party has demanded the closing down of liquor factories from Marathwada so that this water can be used for the required region.

NCP leader Ajit Pawar said there are demands of the fodder camps in the drought region still the government is reluctant to start these camps. "People are migrating to survive, but what about the animals? Where these animals will go? It is the foremost responsibility of the government to take all measure. The government is supplying water by railway tankers to Latur, however, it is not sufficient. Farmers should be given the zero interest loans," Pawar demanded.

NCP state president Sunil Tatkare said they have been from the formation of this government that this is an anti-farmers and labour government. "It has been shown that they have nothing to do with the drought and farmers issues. NCP chief Sharad Pawar had in the beginning of this year only warned that there seems to be the severe drought this year, still no positive and concrete measures were taken. It is unfortunate. We have also decided to visit the drought-affected region on April 27 and 28 in Marathwada," declared Tatkare.

Tatkare said due to the drought and unavailability of work, most people from drought-affected regions are migrating to metropolis in search of work. "The government should have started the NAREGA and other check dam construction work in this region so that would have stopped the migration. The farmers loan waive off should be declared. Ahead of the monsoon season, the seeds and fertiliser should be provided to them," Tatkare added.

Meanwhile, the government should start the fodder camps and supply the water. "The government should provide the shelter to the migrated and even food should be given to them. Our other leaders will also visit the drought affected region still May 15 and after that we come on the street for the farmers issues," Tatkare said.

The delegation of NCP leaders also met chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to convey the situation of the severe drought and asked to take measures to curb the drought.
