Shoppers need no excuse to shop. Every festival and every sale serves as a green signal to go hit the malls. Diwali falls on weekdays, so Navi Mumbaikars have been thronging city malls on weekends to shop to their heart's content. Festivals demand shopping activity and sales are a much-needed icing on the cake

City malls have been adorned with Diwali accessories, effectively accentuating the Diwali look and feel. Inorbit Mall's entrance décor comprising lanterns and festoons in myriad colours and sizes, brings in the festive feel and gives a warm welcome to visitors.

On the sales front the scene is bright as it is raining offers in almost all the outlets. City dwellers are making it a point to visit all their favourite stores to make the most of discounts and grab the best of the lot. From garments to confectioneries and gadgets, everything has a drop in price or bonus offers. "Diwali is a festival where one has to buy new clothes and this is a tradition we have been following for long. But what better than a discount on essential items," Ashwini Patil, a Vashi resident.

Most of the stores are dishing out discount vouchers on sizeable purchases. On buying Rs 5000 worth of items at Shoppers Stop, one can get a voucher for Rs 1000. At Jashn one can enjoy vouchers worth Rs 2500 for a purchase of Rs 5000 and above. For the same amount of purchase, Jack & Jones is giving out a scratch card that can get you merchandise worth that amount.

The footfall during this bonanza festival is very evidently more than usual number. But there stalls and workshops to keep shoppers and their families entertained. Neeta Manoj, a Nerul resident says, "It is good to have such activities arranged, people can win trips to their favourite destination in India by bidding, which seems a win-win situation."

People who are shopping and do not have the courage to visit every other store can enjoy some chilled beer as Oktoberfest is ongoing.
