In a shocking incident, a 65-year-old man was stoned to death by drunk mango thieves in Palghar district of Maharashtra.

The incident took place at Laxmi Farm House at Usgaon in Bhatane near Virar.

The security guard identified as Paltu Rajbhar, was killed by four daily wage labourers whom he often met over a cup of tea.

According to a report in Mid-day, Rajbhar caught the accused when they started pelting stones at the trees to steal mangoes during night time. However, after one of the accused was identified by Rajbhar, they started pelting stones at him during which he fell-unconscious.

Police said that the accused later crushed his head with a big stone, wrapped his body in a cloth and mat, and threw it near a river by the farm

A decomposed body of the victim was found days after the farm owner filed a missing complaint. 

The police have arrested all the accused who had gone missing. They have been remanded in a police custody.
