A Shiv Sena leader from Virar was recently arrested by the Sangamneshwar police for allegedly conducting black magic to finish his political rival. He had also allegedly hatched a plan to kidnap a man for human sacrifice.

The accused, Vinayak Bhosale, a resident of Manvel Pada, was accused of digging a pit in Sangamneshwar in a cashew farm and stashing black thread, clothes, needles, bones, knives and materials used for black magic and aghori practices in it.

A box carrying six names on chits, Bhosale's alleged targets, was found inside the pit. His political rival Prashant Raut, a corporator from Virar, was one of those named in the chits. The complainant in the case is Sunil Bhosale, a relative of the accused, who has alleged that the box contained his father's name too.

"We were informed about this by the Sangamneshwar police. The Sena leader was arrested after he, along with other unidentified accused, went to the Sangamneshwar village and conducted aghori practices... they had planned to sacrifice a person during one of the holy days of Navratri," said a Virar police officer.

Raut, a Bahujan Vikas Aghadi corporator, said, "This is shocking... it's a new low in politics. How can someone stoop to such an extent just over some rivalry? The leaders of Shiv Sena have preached about abolishing superstition, but their party workers themselves are indulging in such acts."

"Bhosale has been arrested under section 3(2) of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013. The Sangameshwar police are investigating," said Pradeep Geete, sub inspector, Virar police station.
