Shiv Sena lauds Economic survey which says BMC ​'​most transparent​'​, BJP ​asks about ​'​missing Rs​ ​70,000 crore​'​

A day after the ​DNA report “Economic Survey lauds transparent BMC” Shiv Sena and BJP indulged in​ a​ verbal spat blaming each other for leveling false allegations. Shiv Sena hailed the Economic Survey circulating the DNA news report all over the state including on digital platform​s,​ challenging the BJP’s poll prank “transparency”.

The Sena also passed a resolution in the BMC to  “congratulate” its Mayor Snehal Ambekar, municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta and other key officials running the BMC for the top rank pf the civic body in the transparency and accountability, given in the survey. 

Stung​,​ BJP condemned Sena for childish behaviour and even cast aspersions over the findings of the survey. “The Economic Survey had mentioned the data for urban bodies was incomplete. Still Sena is going to town to claim that BMC is most transparent. The survey ranks BMC much below in other parameters.You can’t make false claim​s​ with incomplete information,” says Ashish Shelar, BJP Mumbai chief. 

“They have been criticising the Economic ​Surveys till now but now supporting the same” question​ed​ Shelar. 

He also alleged that Rs70,000 crore had been disappeared from the BMC between 2007-2012. “Sena must explain the missing ​Rs70,000 Crore now,” says Shelar.  

Sena leaders claimed, “BJP has been our partner for so long. Shelar himself was the chairman of improvement committee in BMC in 2007-2009. Why were they silent if there indeed was something amiss?”
