The bitter row between late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s sons Uddhav and Jaidev in connection with his will has shaken the political establishment. In its exclusive report on Monday, dna mentioned that Uddhav and four of his associates have filed a probate petition along with a copy of the purported will. The petition has been strongly challenged by Jaidev.

It is a well-known fact that the brothers are not on the best of terms. Yet, the open war between them has sent shockwaves among Shiv Sainiks. dna has a copy of the probate petition and Jaidev’s contention along with Thackeray’s will and the property schedule.

Jaidev has questioned the veracity of the will on several grounds. For instance, he says it is inconceivable that Thackeray would draft his will in English. He also rejected the claim that his father did not leave even a farthing for him because he had emotionally hurt him. Jaidev claims he was on good terms with his father even though he left their bungalow, Matoshree in Bandra.

Thackeray’s second son, Jaidev, wants his father’s estate to be divided into three equal parts — for himself, Uddhav and their late brother Bindumadhav. The irony is that Aishwarya, son of Jaidev’s ex-wife Smita, has been bequeathed the entire first floor of Matoshree, but Jaidev has not been given anything.

Aishwarya is the only grandson of Thackeray who has been given a substantial portion of the bungalow. Bindumadhav’s son Nihar has not been given anything while Uddhav’s sons Aditya and Tejas have to share the bungalow with their father. Apart from Matoshree, Thackeray has willed a farmhouse in Karjat, a plot in Bhandardara and bank deposits which have been collectively valued by Uddhav and his associates at Rs14.85 crore. However, Jaidev has contended that Matoshree alone is worth Rs40 crore.

Jaidev has also questioned the right of advocate and ex-Sena MP Adhik Shirodkar, Sena leader and advocate Anil Parab, architect Shashi Prabhu and Bal Thackeray’s PA Ravindra Mhatre to be the executors. There were reports that Uddhav and Jaidev met on Monday.
