Shiv Sena ministers have threatened to abandon the alliance with BJP if it does not stick to the precondition of sharing the post of chief minister with Sena for 30 months after the assembly elections in Maharashtra.

Environment minister Ramdas Kadam, a veteran Sena leader, said on Wednesday that terms for the alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha and state assembly elections were finalised in presence of BJP chief Amit Shah, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray. Later, Sena minister Subhash Desai made it clear it was decided that both the parties would share not only the post of chief minister but also share power equally. Desai said the posts of ministers would also be divided equally between both the parties.

PWD Minister and senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil had said on Tuesday that the CM's post would be given to the party that gets more numbers in the state polls. He had stated that it was never agreed to give the post of chief minister to both the parties for half the tenure of the government. Patil also said ministerial berths would be given as per the parties' share of elected MLAs.

Criticising Patil for his statements, Kadam said it was wrong on the part of Minister Patil to make such statements a day after the conditions for an alliance were underlined by Chief Minister Fadnavis and Sena chief Thackeray.

"If at all the BJP does not want to give the post of CM to Sena, we would exhibit our strength. If he is speaking with the permission of Fadnavis and Shah, let BJP shun the alliance and we would show what our strength is.
