Allaying uncertainty over its alliance with the Congress, NCP president Sharad Pawar on Saturday said a joint campaign for the assembly elections with Congress seems likely.

Stating that talks with the Congress are in progress, Pawar said, "We would arrive at a decision soon. It is likely that we would have to campaign jointly in the state for the ensuing assembly elections.'

Pawar, along with state unit president Sunil Tatkare, kick-started the election campaign of the party. Addressing party workers at Yashwantrao Chavan Center, he came down heavily on the Union government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and BJP president Amit Shah for appointment of former Chief Justice of India as Kerala governor and wild allegations of corruption in Maharashtra respectively.

Pawar released booklet 'Kaalchakra Pragatiche' which is review of progress made by the government during the NCP-Congress rule in the state in the last five years. He also released the campaign songs and compilation of street-plays presented by youth wing of the party.

Waging a scathing attack on Union government, Pawar said that those who have come t power are setting undesirable precedents and the decision about former Chief Justice of India is testimony of the same. He said, "former CJI has been appointed as the Kerala governor and the person who gave oath of office to President of ndia has assumed office as Governor after taking oath from the Chief Justice of Kerala.' Pawar said that there are news reports that the former CJI got this appointment for exonerating BJP President.

Criticizing BJP President Amit Shah for his statement about corruption in Maharashtra, Pawar said that BJP President has shouted `Scam, Scam and Scam' but real question is whether is this person qualified enough to talk about scams. He said that if ne would g through JP President's diary, it would be found that every day he would have to appear before one or the her Court.

Patel said that NCP would like to have ore assembly seats for the 2014 elections since it had left few seats on the basis of Lok Sabha election success during 2009. He said that since NCP has four MPs elected to Lok Sabha which is double the strength than Congress, NNCP should have more assembly seats this time. He said that there was no question of bowing down since NCP was formed on the issue of self-respect.

Both Ajit Pawar and Bhujbal criticized BJP President Amit Shah for misguiding people with wild alegations. Pawar said that the ongress-NP Government together had a plan of less than 4 lakh crores and Shah has aleged that thhere is corruption of over Rs. 11 lakh crores. Tatkare said that NCP would oppose any move to separate Mumbai from rest of Maharashtra. Takare also said that NCP was ready for friendly contests at a few seats if Congress was arguing so.

Criticizing the leaders who have deserted NCP on the eve of election, Pawar said, "This is nothing but opportunism and I a curious to see all these people who criticized BJP and RSS to appear in the Dassera march of RSS in Half Pants and stick in hand.' Pawar advised party workers to ignore these defectors and avoid mentioning their names during the campaign.
