The seventh edition of the dna Auto Show kicked off on a big note. People thronged the venue once the expo was thrown open and singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan inaugurated the show. With a grand line-up of automobiles from some of the most prominent manufacturers in the market, the auto show ongoing at Vashi's Cidco Exhibition Centre will be worth a visit for car enthusiasts across Mumbai.

While car brands like BMW, Mini Cooper, Jaguar, Range Rover, Mercedes, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Honda Cars, Renault India, General Motors, Toyota, and Volkswagen had some of their new models on display, Ducati, Harley Davidson, Triumph, Benelli, Hyosung dominated the bike section.

Mini Cooper's 5-door, Toyota's Camry Hybrid, BMW's 520d were some of the models that appealed to many of the visitors in the high-end range.

On the other hand, people were also going gaga over bikes like Triumph Motorcycles' Thruxton, Rocket III and Thunderbird LT, Harley Davidson's Street 750 and Super Low, Suzuki's Hayabusa, Honda's Gold Wing, among many others.

Dileep Chaddha, a resident of Thane who was visiting the expo for the first time said: "The line-up of cars and bikes is impressive, because apart from budget and luxury cars, there were also sports cars and super bikes. The organisers have also chosen an apt venue as the space is huge and it is close to the (railway) station."

One of the highlights that impressed celebrity guests as well as people was the series of innovations by students of IIT and VJTI. While IIT-ians displayed a racing car by the name of EVo4, designed to accelerate from 0-100kms in just three seconds, second year engineering students of VJTI featured their electric go kart called ECOlution K01. Apart from zero tail-pipe emissions that makes it an environmentally friendly car, other futuristic features like 'Regenerative Braking Circuit, Impact Attenuator' made of soft drink cans that can take an impact of 10 kN in a head-on collision, were appreciated by many.
