Shah Rukh Khan's driver booked for rape and criminal intimidation

A day after actor Shah Rukh Khan's driver was arrested by the Bandra police for allegedly raping the domestic help of a former actress, a metropolitan court on Thursday remanded the 34-year-old accused to police custody till July 1. The police has also confirmed that the survivor is not a minor. Ramchandra Dhawle, senior inspector of Bandra police said, "The victim had told us her age was 17. We went through her birth records, which confirmed her age to be 23 years. We are also awaiting the her medical records."

The accused, Pintoo Mishra, allegedly raped the 23-year-old in a hotel at Nalasopara on January 20 under the pretext of giving her a high paying job at his employer's residence. The woman, who hails from Latur, was working at the ex-actress' home since the past six months and was not satisfied with her wages. "She contacted Mishra through her employer's building's security guard. When she confided in him that she needed work, he connected her to Mishra," said Dhawle.

According to the police, Mishra met the woman near her employer's Bandra West residence and promised her a better job at his employer's residence. He took her for a ride on his bike and then took her to a hotel in Nalasopara, where he allegedly raped her. He threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anybody. The woman later narrated the incident to her friend based in Kurla, after which a complaint was registered with the Bandra police on Wednesday.

"We will not be recording the statements of the actors. However, we will record the statement of the security guard of the actress' building and also the staff of the Nalasopara hotel. We are also verifying whether the accused has any past criminal records," added Dhawle. Mishra has been booked and arrested under IPC sections 376 for rape and 506 (2) for criminal intimidation.
