Seven arrested at Kharegaon toll naka for possession of weapons

The Crime Branch unit -1 in Thane has arrested seven people for possession of weapons. The seven member gang was heading towards Mumbai for thievery.

The accused, five from Gujarat, one from Palghar and one from Thane were arrested on December 9, at around 6pm, near Kharegaon toll naka in Kalwa and were also produced in court where they were addressed to police custody till December 15. Through initial investigation, one of the accused revealed that they were about to loot a business man.

A case with the Kalwa police station was registered and all the seven accused has been identified as Zahirkhan Abbaskhan Belim, 26, Mahrumafiya Gulabmiya Shaikh, 37, Iqbal Nazirkhan Pathan, 43 and Naresh Amrutlal Nai, 29 are from Gujarat, while the other two, Jitendra Pandurang Patil, 34, is from Thane and Ratansingh Becharji Waghela, 26, from Palghar.

All the accused are history-sheeters and during investigations, it was revealed that Zahirkhan is wanted by Gujarat police and has many cases registered against him. A police official said, "The five accused had come from Gujarat after calling the other two members. It was also revealed that the number plate of the vehicles used were fake and registration numbers looked identical to those in Mumbai. We have seized two vehicles and are investigating to get more details about the crime."

Parag Manere, DCP of crime, Thane said, "We got a tip-off that few suspicious people have been seen in a car in Thane and were possessing weapons. It was evening when our police officials were at the Kharegaon toll naka, all the accused were travelling in a car and were immediately nabbed. During the investigation, a baseball bats, chopper knives and two pistols with six bullets were found."
