A sessions court on Wednesday acquitted a 45-year-old man who was arrested by the Malwani police in 2011 for allegedly raping his 16-year-old stepdaughter. Judge US Joshi Phalke acquitted the accused as the prosecution failed to prove their case beyond reasonable doubts. According to the prosecution’s case, the victim was raped by her stepfather a number of times from November 2010.

“On May 23, 2011, when the victim was sleeping with her mother and two siblings, her stepfather raped her in presence of her mother. On May 24, the victim ran away from her house. The next day, she met two social workers who took her to Malwani police station and registered a complaint against her stepfather Javed Khan,” claimed an officer.

Khan was arrested under the charge of rape. The accused was in jail since then.

Khan’s advocate Santosh Deshpande said, “The prosecution had no evidence to prove the case.

The girl denied that she had registered a rape case against him. Also, the medical reports could not prove the allegation.”
