Septuagenarian robbed and killed in Andheri (E) slum

A 70-year-old woman was robbed and murdered at her residence in Andheri (E) on Monday morning. The incident happened in a Sanjay Gandhi Nagar slum in Marol pipeline area.

According to Sahar police, the victim, Shanmuka Tevar, was allegedly stabbed on her stomach, back and legs at least 11 times by an unknown person between Sunday midnight and Monday morning. The police is yet to make any arrests.

A police officer said that Tevar was a widow used to live alone, while her daughter stayed at a different residence in the same area. "The motive could be robbery as her home was found ransacked, and her jewellery missing. Her body was found at around 8:30am," added the officer.

The police have found kitchen knife at the spot which was used to stab the victim.

The cops also said that Tevar's ring and chain have gone missing, and that the 70-year-old used to sell liquor in the area. A case of robbery and murder has been registered by the Sahar police.

"We are questioning her daughter and neighbours to see if they saw anybody entering her home. Further investigations are on," said the officer.
