A 22-year-old woman who worked as a typist in private firm in Kalwa was allegedly raped by her employer, a 61-year-old man identified as Kirtikumar Shah, last Sunday. Shah called the woman to work on a holiday by telling her that she urgently needed to type out important documents. He then allegedly raped her and banged her head on the wall when she tried to resist his attempts.
A 22-year-old woman who worked as a typist in private firm in Kalwa was allegedly raped by her employer, a 61-year-old man identified as Kirtikumar Shah, last Sunday. Shah called the woman to work on a holiday by telling her that she urgently needed to type out important documents. He then allegedly raped her and banged her head on the wall when she tried to resist his attempts.
According to the complaint, the victim reached her office in Naupada area at around 2 pm. Shah then locked the door and raped her. When she put up a fight, he banged her head on the wall, after which she fell unconscious. He also threatened her that he would not spare her or her family members if she told anyone, said the complaint.
The woman rushed home and narrated her ordeal to her family members. The next day, they approached the Kalwa police station and lodge a complaint. A case was registered under section 376 (punishment for rape), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
An officer from Kalwa police station said, "We have arrested the accused and he will be produced in court by today (Tuesday)."
J Babar, senior inspector from Kalwa police station said, "We have registered the case but will transfer it to the Naupada police station as the incident happened in their jurisdiction. The victim has been sent for a medical test and so has the accused. The reports are awaited."
