Scrap dealer held for raping 10-year-old daughter

A 34-year-old scrap dealer has been arrested by the Dahisar police for allegedly sexually assaulting his ten-year-old daughter. According to the police, the incident came to light two days ago after the girl narrated the incident to the authorities at the children's shelter in Dongri.

The victim used to live on the footpath with her father and two younger siblings until about a year ago. Her mother had separated from her father several years ago. The girl was allegedly sexualy assaulted almost a year ago, after which she ran away from home.

"The railway police found the victim in Kalyan in December after which she was sent to the shelter home in Dongri. Two days ago, she told the officer about being sexually assaulted by her father," said an officer from Dahisar police station. The offence happened below the Link Road flyover at Anand Nagar in Dahisar, said the police.

A case was registered initially at the MHB Colony police and later transferred to the Dahisar police. The victim's father was arrested on Thursday. He was booked under section 376 (rape) and other sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He will be produced at a sessions court at Dindoshi.
