Kids who have always got the most fancy things to play with, will dig into their cupboards on October 2 to pick their favourite toy and give it to someone who has not been fortunate like them. dna, as part of its ‘Good is in our dna’ initiative, along with students from top schools in the city, will be donating toys to children associated with Goonj and Desh Seva Samiti --- both non-profit organisations working for kids.
Besides toys, they will donate books, stationery, sports accessories and clothes (all in good condition) as part of the Joy of Giving week. The partnering schools are not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring that the initiative becomes successful.
“Reaching out to less advantaged members of the local, national and global community is part of every child’s experience at Ecole Mondiale and the Joy of Giving is a natural addendum to our list of worthy causes already in place in our vibrant service programme that begins in the primary section (PYP) and extends across the Middle Years Programme to the Diploma programme.
The development of a student’s ability to empathise with the less fortunate is part of our mission in an attempt to teach the students how to play an active role in alleviating poverty, making a difference as a citizen whenever and wherever they can,” said Finbarr O’Regan, Principal, Ecole Mondiale World School, one of the partnering schools.
