Education inspectors of three zones in the city will soon hold meetings with principals of schools (all boards) to explain to them the provisions of the Regulation of Fee Act 2011 effective from December 1. The Act will be implemented from 2015-16 academic year.

According to deputy director of school education, before the Act is implemented, it's important that schools know about it at least six months in advance, hence it is being made effective from December 1.

As per the Act, every school, including government ones, has to constitute Parent-Teachers Association (PTA). PTA should be formed by the head of a school within 30 days of the beginning of an academic year. PTA should have representation from every standard. The PTA executive committee will be constituted through draw of lots. PTA members should be notified a week in advance about the lottery to select the executive panel.

The school management should submit details of the proposed fee for the next academic year to the executive committee along with relevant records at least six months before the commencement of the next academic year. And the committee should approve the fee 30 days before the next school year.

BD Fadtare, deputy director of school education, said: "There are many provisions in the Act that schools will have to follow. Education inspectors will hold meetings with all board principals and educate them on the provisions of the Regulation of Fee Act 2011. All schools will have to strictly adhere to it."
