Started by the NGO, Are You Recycling (RUR), on February 16, 2014, more than 20 residential societies from different parts of the city have signed up with the NGO for the project.
Bin Se Bench Tak, is an initiative to promote the concept of recycling tetra pak cartons into a garden bench. Started by the NGO, Are You Recycling (RUR), on February 16, 2014, more than 20 residential societies from different parts of the city have signed up with the NGO for the project.
Monisha Narke, founder of RUR, talking to iamin said, "The Bin Se Bench Tak initiative for societies was started after the success of our Go Green With Tetra Pak project in collaboration with institutions like schools, colleges, corporate companies. Today’s youngsters are very environmentally conscious and take active interest in activities related to recycling waste. We thought of starting this garden bench initiative, so that residents of these complexes could come together and participate in group activities. So, this project would help society members to bond with each other, while contributing to the environment."
RUR has been working on the project in collaboration with Sahakari Bhandar and Reliance Fresh retail stores.

A single garden bench is made from 6,900 tetra pak cartons within a span of two weeks; while to make one school desk, around 4,500 tetra pak cartons are required. These cartons are handed over to a company called Deluxe in Palghar, where they are recycled.
As of now, five societies have succeeded in getting garden benches made of recycled cartons.
