'She quarreled with my father, kept scolding me': Mumbai cop's son confesses killing mother

After allegedly killing Deepali on Tuesday, Siddhant took a bath, bundled his clothes in a bag and fled from home with some money, the police said. He boarded a train from Mumbai and reached Jodhpur on Wednesday, they said.

The deceased, Deepali, 42, stayed with her husband Ganore, who is posted at Khar police station and was part of the team that was probing the Sheena Bora murder case, and son Siddhant in Prabhat Colony Jodhpur/Mumbai: With the Mumbai Police on the lookout for him since the early hours of Wednesday, Siddhant Ganore, 21, who is accused of allegedly killing his mother, the wife of police inspector Dnyaneshwar Ganore, was picked up from a hotel in Jodhpur by the local police on Thursday.

Siddhant claimed that his mother Deepali, 42, would always scold him because of his studies, and he killed her when she insisted on visiting college with him on Tuesday.

Talking to the media in Jodhpur, Siddhant, a first year BSc student, said, “I was under severe stress because of her nature. She would always quarrel with my father and keep scolding me. On Tuesday, she was to go with me to my college and did not want her to, so I killed her.” After allegedly killing Deepali on Tuesday, Siddhant took a bath, bundled his clothes in a bag and fled from home with some money, the police said. He boarded a train from Mumbai and reached Jodhpur on Wednesday, they said.

Udaimandir Police Station Inspector, Madan Beniwal said, Siddhant was put up at Hotel Dhoom. He purchased a new mobile phone and as soon as he connected with a Wi-Fi and accessed the internet, Mumbai police traced him. He had Rs 2 lakh in cash with him and was planning to go somewhere away from home.

“After having been alerted by Mumbai police, we reached the hotel and detained him. He later confessed to having killed Deepali. Siddhant was not going to college regularly. The college administration had sent many notices to his parents to intimate them about this. But he made sure that none of them reached home,” said Beniwal.

“On the day of murder, Deepali had asked Siddhant for his progress report and was also to accompany him to college. Since he had not appeared for exams and had failed, this scared him and brought him under severe stress, under which, he decided to kill her,” said a police officer.
