The two Santa Cruz residents who were arrested for killing and eating their neighbour's pet dog have told the police that they were bored of chicken and wanted to try something different. In a chilling disclosure to the police, the duo have said they first tried to eat the dog's raw meat, but gave up the plan as they didn't like the taste.

What shocked the Vakola police was this casual-sounding statement: "Mere mann ko Bhaya mai kutta kaat ke khaaya." The cops said the duo were under the influence of drugs and alcohol when the ate the dog. While the two men have shown no remorse for their action, the police said the duo is used to eat stray dogs and cats.
"The accused have revealed that instead of eating pork, they would kill stray dogs and cats for meat as it was not available in the market. They didn't regret that they had killed a pet dog," said an officer from Vakola police station.
Animal activist Salim Charania said they two men were nothing but psychopaths. "When I saw them at first, they did not regret to what they did and the police officials themselves were shocked after the confession. They two need to be punished strictly and we will pursue the case till its conclusion."
Charania added, "When I reached the spot and learnt about the incident, I soon went to their residence and learnt that the accused were used to eating dog meat. I helped the police in preparing the panchnama and carrying out the post-mortem."
Meanwhile the pet's owner Santosh Shetty and his family are in a shock. "My wife Pratibha still can't believe that someone has killed our pet Bruno and ate it. We just want that the duo should be strictly punished. They have not just killed our Bruno, but also many stray dogs. They can even eat humans."
"They are in police custody remand till 5 days and we are investigating whether they have killed other strays too. The basic point is they are habitual to these things and we want to seize the equipment from which they chopped the dog, said an on duty police official.
