Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is serving his jail-term for illegally possessing arms in the 1993 Bombay blasts has been let out once again on a 30-day parole by Jail authorities at Pune's high-profile Yerwada jail.
This parole was granted after the actor filed an application on grounds that his wife Maanyata was unwell. The permission was granted by Pune's Divisional Commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh.
The only condition of this 30-day parole is that Dutt has to report to Khar police station twice a week. Prior to this, Dutt was granted two weeks leave in October on medical grounds which was again extended by two weeks. He finally returned to jail on 30 October 2013.
In its March 21 verdict, the apex court dismissed Sanjay's plea seeking review of its judgement and asked him to complete his remaining jail sentence of 42 months.
Twitteratis lashed out against this development with tags such as #RIPJustice and #RIPIndianJudiciary. There was an influx of tweets directed at the justice system and disparity between treatment meted out to cases involving celebrities and poor citizens.
The angst was very much evident as many were seen questioning the grounds on which the parole was granted. Here are some of the tweets:
Won't be surprised if this Criminal Sanjay Dutt will be released next year.. All thanks to his sister Priya Dutt who is a Congress MP.
