Rajya Sabha MP, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje has been appointedas the ambassador for the tourism department and brand ambassador for the historic forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, on Monday.
The move is being seen as a step to pacify the angry Maratha community, and develop historic forts, as a tourist destination.
Minister of tourism, Jaikumar Rawal had a meeting with Raje, on Monday, and said that Maharashtra would also develop the historic forts of Shivaji Maharaj on the lines of Rajasthan government's tourism marketing strategy.
A heritage committee has been formed with Sambhaji Raje as a member. CM Fadnavis said that having Raje as a brand ambassador for initiatives pertaining to historic forts would add value to the efforts of the government.
