'Saamana' criticises Shobhaa De and Twitter, calls tweeting useless

Saamana, mouth piece of the Shiv Sena, has criticised Shobhaa De asking her to study the history of the Samyukta Maharashtra movement instead of indulging in "useless tweeting".

In its editorial, Saamana also criticises Twitter and the social media. It says Twitter is "nothing but foolishness." It also says that no matter who uses twitter; be it Narendra Modi, Sushma Swaraj, Digvijay Singh or even Shobha De; they only let out a steady stream of their thoughts that causes confusion. And then, the edit piece says, a certain statement backfires.

Saamana also poses a question: "Does social media have any connection with the common man?"

It also says, "The micro-blogging site only serves to satisfy a certain section's need for publicity. No Twitter armies can win elections or solve the country's problems. Twitter is a platform used for mudslinging, defamation, crude humour and making accusations and counter-accusations."
