Westcoast's popular H/West Federation recently conducted a marathon to make their ward a friendly one for differently-abled citizens. The cause was supported by people from all walks of life, with roughly 5,000 runners participating in the marathon. This fourth edition saw great energy levels and participation from school children, collegians, celebrities, working professionals from the corporate world and also from the fields of medicine and security forces.

The event was flagged off by Ashish Shelar, MLA of Bandra West Constituency, along with Priya Dutt, former MP, at the St. Stanislaus High School. Shelar says, "It is a great initiative to sensitise people about the problems faced by differently-abled people in the city. I hope that the other wards of the city chip in as well to make Mumbai a friendly city for the differently-abled."
MUSTRun 2014 included a half marathon, 10km race, 5km dream run to support oral health awareness and a 2km walk for senior citizens. A special 1km run was organised for differently-abled people as well as a 2km run especially for students from BMC schools.
Surindra Khubchandani, who also participated in the marathon, shares, "The marathon was a great success due to teamwork. Participants were seen in huge numbers owing to the noble cause associated with the marathon." The heart-melting scene on the track was of the 100-plus differently-abled athletes, who participated in the 1km run; they were supported and cheered by all. Several dentists also participated in the marathon to increase awareness about oral health.
