Rs 100 crore MMR road development project

In order to upgrade the road network in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, particularly in Navi Mumbai, more than Rs100 crore will be spent on improvement of national highway 4 and state highway 40.

These two highways will be widened and strengthened at Shil phata, Palaspe phata, Takka colony, Kalamboli junction and Khanda colony.

"A four lane flyover will also be constructed on state highway 40 at Larsen & Toubro junction," said Dilip Kawathkar, spokesperson of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

"We have invited tenders for widening and strengthening of national highway 4 in two phases. The first phase will include work between Takka colony and Palaspe phata. Whereas, under the second phase, the road connecting Kalamboli junction and Khanda colony will be taken up," said Kawathkar.

An estimated amount of Rs54 crore will be spent for this 3.6 km long road work.

On state highway 40, Shil phata-Mahape road will be widened on a 6.9 km stretch for which Rs56 crore will be spent.
