The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Wednesday personnel studied the module of Government Railway Police (GRP) control room to upgrade their systems, which will soon help them to bring down their response time to reach out to anyone needing emergency. Satish Mathur, Director General of Maharashtra Police, on Monday initiated the new control room system at the Commissioner of Railways office at Wadi Bunder.

Sachin Bhalode, RPF, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Central Railway also met Niket Kaushik, Commissioner of Railway Police, on Wednesday to discuss the new module of the control room. The RPF now plans to set up such control rooms to facilitate the commuters.

"Often there is a delay in response from our end in cases of distress. We are planning to upgrade the control room on the lines of GRP, which will reduce the response time," a senior RPF personnel said on condition of anonymity.

"We are also planning to increase the number of operators in the control room to reduce call-waiting", said the official. The control room, which has been set up by GRP, has a new system which could be directly reached by the commuter and get linked to the nearest police officer at the station. The GRP personnel are now armed with a mobile phone software R-tracker, which helps the control room to check their locations.
