RPF files case against man who flashed woman

The Borivali Railway Police has registered a case against the unknown person who allegedly flashed a 23-year-old Mulund woman in a Churchgate-bound local train last month.

The woman alleged in her Facebook post that the man exposed himself to her and threatened to rape her. She also wrote about calling the railway helpline number, only to be laughed at and hung up on by the railway police, on hearing the nature of her complaint. According to the post, the incident took place on June 15 but she wrote about it on July 6.

"We have registered a case against an unidentified person. A probe is on to identify the accused, we will scrutinise CCTV footage," said Purushottam Karad, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Western Railway.

A case under IPC Section 354 A (1) (Sexual harassment), 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 504 (Intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) has been registered at the Borivali railway police station.
