Rotaract Mumbai celebrates World Responsible Youth Week in Gunde Village near Shahpur, Thane district

Rotaract Mumbai celebrated World Responsible Youth week, an extension of World Responsible Youth Day that is celebrated on January 4 to promote education. The event was launched on December 29 at High Street Phoenix with a small play on importance of education.

Rotaractors of Rotaract District 3140 visited a village called ‘Gunde’ on December 3 and 4 in Thane district and went to a school named Chaitanya Vidyalaya and made an attempt to promote education to the children there.

An interactive session with the students wherein they bonded with the children which from 4th grade to Grade 10 and spoke to them about the importance of education. Also they distributed WRY kits which had a school bag and necessary school stationery needed for basic education to about 500 students there.

The principal of the school Deshmukh said, “This school has not been painted since past 8 years due to financial difficulties. These rotaractors have really helped us give a new look to the school. The school started with 15 students and has now reached to 500 students only because of the support of the faculty and ideal youth organisations like Rotaract.”

District Rotaract Representative Rtr Manish Solanki, said, “Today’s youth has the passion and the determination to take on the responsibility to bring the change and make the world a better place to live. Around 4000 Rotaractors across the city will motivate and encourage youth to step up and contribute towards the cause of education of underprivileged and needy through the means of time or monetary support.”
