Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan, better knows as "MSG" or "Rockstar Baba", on Monday announced that he and his group would start a campaign against alcoholism in the city. The spiritual guru was in Mumbai for the global launch of the DVD of his film MSG that has grossed over Rs165 crore since its release in 3,500 screens all over India.
As per information provided during a press conference at JW Marriott in Juhu, the DVD has seen pre-release bookings of 1.5lakh copies.
When asked about the Malvani hooch tragedy, the spiritual leader said, "We will be taking up an awareness campaign in Mumbai. Earlier too, we have done that in the city. We will also release some songs for the awareness campaign which will help in making people quit alcohol and other addictions."
Well-known for his de-addiction drives, the famous guru said that ever since his movie had been released, a large number of people had given up their addictions. "Earlier, Roohani programmes would attract around 5,000 people. But after the release of MSG, the number of people coming for de-addiction programmes has doubled to 10,000," he said.
Pumped by the success and urging of people, the spiritual leader has now decided to release the sequel to MSG in not just India but also in the US and France. "People who have seen it say that it should make it to Cannes and Oscar. Hence, we are working on its print and will be releasing there too," said the guru.
