RInfra gets contract to convert Bandra Kurla Complex into 'Smart BKC'

Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) will work to convert the business hub Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in to 'Smart BKC'.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), after having analysed the two bids it shortlisted, have decided to award the contract to RInfra.

RInfra is the leading consortium for the project and the final nod is yet to be received from the executive committee of the MMRDA.

Last year, in July, MMRDA had floated a request for proposal (RFP) to design, develop, implement, operate and maintain the Smart BKC project. The project is scheduled to be ready only in the second half of 2016, in November, informed an official.

Under this project, there will be Wi-Fi hotspots, smart parking system, smart street lights, video analytics and surveillance and citizen mobile application.

As per the plans, there will be a 5Mbps wireless internet connectivity through 74 wireless access points in 'G'-block of BKC.

The state government has plans to cover various junctions and strategic locations of the city with CCTV cameras, this component has been set aside from the project.

Larsen & Toubro, too, was in the fray and had quoted a bid of Rs107 crore against the quote of Rs75 crore by RInfra. At the onset of the project, the overall project estimate was Rs19.41 crore.
