RInfra announces additional discount for commuters opting for prepaid metro smart cards

First 200 passes to get flat 50 percent discount

Mumbai metro commuters will now be able to get to travel for a lesser fare, if opting for short and long distance prepaid passes purchased from an e-commerce portal.

On Wednesday, Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra)-led Mumbai metro announced discounts on two of their passes.

"Mumbai metro, has announced a tie-up with nearbuy (formerly Groupon India) for the first ever discount on monthly passes for short and long distance commute on Mumbai Metro-1," read their statement.

The first 200 passes, which are valid for 45 trips up to 30 days, will be offered at a flat 50 per cent discount.

While, the short and long distance passes for commute on Mumbai Metro between Versova and Ghatkopar are currently available at Rs675 and Rs900 respectively. Bought or recharged through nearbuy, the Rs675 pass for the short distance commute will be available at Rs499. Similarly, the long distance commute pass will be available at Rs699 instead of Rs900.

Special counters will be set up at all the 12 metro stations to sell these discounted passes that are available till February 28.
