Social activists in the city have launched a campaign to demand better public toilet facilities at Crawford Market. The 'Right To Pee' online campaign was started to create awareness about the lack of public toilet facilities near the Crawford Market area.
According to the activist, the campaign aims to reach the masses through social media and create awareness about the lack of public toilet facilities at the shopping hub.
"Many women and men visit the market daily. We speak about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the city, then we need to raise the issue to make the city better with accessible toilet facilities," said Supriya Sonar, 'Right To Pee' activist.
While the social media campaign has already started, they will soon start with a signature campaign at Crawford Market before meeting the civic authority. An online campaigner said, "We will soon start with offline campaign too. We plan to meet the assistant municipal commissioner and the municipal commissioner to put forth the issue. The social media campaign is organised to reach the masses and pressurise the civic authority for better accessibility to public toilets."
40-year-old Sujata Lawhande, Chembur resident, said, "I have been visiting the market with my family every month. Since there is no access to public toilet in the area around the market, I have had urine infection problems.
