Tired of the constant delays in train services on Central Railway (CR), passenger associations have decided to protest if the trains continue to be behind schedule. The association stated that December 18 onward, CR changed the timetable wherein several trains have been revised by 10 to 15 minutes.

The Federation of Suburban Passengers Association has written a letter to the CR authorities. "In the morning hours, the trains are always delayed. This causes a lot of inconvenience to commuters. If trains run late even after the train timetable has been revised, people are bound to lose their patience," said Nandkumar Deshmukh, president, Federation of Suburban Passengers Association.

CR suburban trains began running as per a new winter timetable from Monday to offset delays caused due to dense early morning fog in the Kasara and Karjat sections. In all, the timings of 11 trains between Kalyan-Kasara/Karjat and Khopoli have been revised.

The first train from Karjat will depart at 2.25 am instead of 2.35 am. Similarly, the first Kasara local will depart at 4.10 am instead of 4.25 am. Both trains will reach Kalyan at their original scheduled times of 3.29 a.m and 5.37 a.m. The change will only be for the first six services from Karjat and first four from Kasara.

"If this new timetable becomes a success then punctuality of our services shall improve," said a CR official.
