Monorail services were disrupted on Saturday evening after a train approaching Chembur station stopped functioning due to a power failure.

Officials immediately deployed another train from Wadala depot. The train was then coupled to the railcar that had a power failure and pushed onto the platform.

Passengers and the captain of the railcar were helped out of the train onto the platform of Chembur station.

MMRDA authorities also denied reports that two monorail trains nearly crashed.  UPS Madan, metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA, said, "One train was stuck and another train was called in for pushing the stuck train halfway to the platform."

Speaking to DNA, an MMRDA official added that a section of the monorail experienced power outrage. “The train had to be evacuated. Fortunately, no injuries during the incident were reported. Services have been suspended since 9pm, and will resume on Sunday,” the official added.

This isn’t the first time that power failure has disrupted Monorail services. In 2015, a train was stuck near Bhakti Park Monorail station. There have been several more reports of disrupted services, due to technical failures.
