The state Congress is in for a few more shocks in the coming few months. As part of a major restructuring exercise that the BJP is scheduled to undergo in January next year, many more known faces from other political parties including the Congress are expected to join them, said Ashish Shelar, head of BJP's city unit.

On Sunday, after Sameer Desai, Congress spokesperson and first cousin of Gurudas Kamat, joined BJP at a function in Goregaon, Shelar had said, "All other political parties along with Congress will suffer many more such jolts in future," he said.

Shelar's statement spoke volumes about the days to come. While the civic elections are scheduled in 2017, sources are indicating that the polls may be announced earlier, considering the current political situation.

On Saturday, core committee members of state BJP brainstormed about introducing some much needed changes in the party. Top leaders have decided to ensure smooth coordination between the state government and office bearers in wake of some harsh decisions that are to be taken in the coming days. State ministers will have to deal with the pressure party leaders will put on the government if any decisions against the party's wishes.

Core committee members of the state BJP along with all 10 ministers were present at the meeting, which was attended by V Satish, in-charge of Maharashtra, Ravindra Bhusari and Vinay Sahasrabuddhe.

The state BJP has indicated a cabinet expansion ahead of the winter session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly starting from December 8, next month.

"Apart from the changing of secretarial staff of all ministers in Mantralaya, lot of other decisions have been taken by core committee members. Reshuffle and restructuring will only help to bring fresh energy in the party and encourage party workers with new responsibilities," said a senior BJP Leader.

Minister Chandrakant Patil has been assigned special responsibility of the party's organisational members and office bearers, while Vinod Tawde will be responsible for state BJP workers.

Sources said that both leaders have been asked to bring out the best from party members. The state BJP core committee will review the progress every three months.
