Residents of low-lying areas of Dadar, Worli, Prabhadevi, Mahalaxmi, Haji Ali, Curry Road, Jacob Circle and the surrounding neighbourhoods will finally get some respite from flooding this year. On Wednesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) started operations of Cleaveland and Love Grove pumping stations. Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, in the presence of senior Sena and BJP leaders, inaugurated the pumping stations.

While Cleaveland will help in reducing water-logging in Dadar and Worli, Love Grove will help in preventing the same in Mahalaxmi, Jacob Circle, Curry Road and the surrounding area.

Thackeray said that though the operation of pumping stations to their full capacity was delayed due several obstacles, now it's all complete and citizens are set to get the benefit.

Britannia pumping station will be completed by the end of this year and Guzderbund pumping station will be completed by May 2016.
