Whether it is bad roads, power cuts or autorickshaw menace, residents of Dombivli have an endless list of complaints.
In the most recent complaints, residents have raised the problems they face while travelling in autos, as drivers ferry as per their whims and fancy and refusals are common. According to commuters, if they complaint on the toll free number 1800-22-53-35 every time they get the same complaint number.
Priyanka Vaishampayan, a commuter, says "Refusals and not plying as per meter are common occurrences. I thought about taking the issue with the Dombivli RTO and so called on the helpline number and registered my complaint. I waited for a couple of days, but no action was taken. Again on June1 I complained and was surprised to receive the same complaint number, No20. Again no action was taken. So, I asked my friends too to complain on the helpline and surprisingly they too got the same complaint number."
Satish Jha, another commuter, said, "Though many campaigns have been done to improve the behaviour of auto drivers, there has been no change in their behaviour. They mostly say no for short distances and if we urge them to ply as per meter, they deny. The RTO, too, does not take strict action against such drivers. Many a times I tried to register complain via toll free number, but they don't respond."
He added, "Even I have received the same complaint number each time I complained on the toll-free number."
Akash Mathur, a commuter, said, "When I repeatedly got complaint No20, I understood that there is some problem either with the toll free number or the replies were being tampered."
When asked, deputy RTO VR Gujarati said, "I am not aware of any such issue. But if there is a problem, I will look into it and make sure that the helpline starts functioning properly."
