Nine years after 26/11, an attack that showcased what intelligence failure could cause, we still don't know who in the intelligence agencies failed us. And even after the attack that shook the nation, the likes of then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and National Security Advisor MK Narayanan refused to share information with the Ram Pradhan Enquiry Committee that was formed by the state government to find out what exactly went wrong.

This has been revealed by none other than Ram Pradhan, ex-Union Home Secretary, in an exclusive interview with Zee 24 Taas.

"We were doing our job. We had investigated the state intelligence. But we couldn't do so with central agencies. Because the central government didn't allow us. They had told all their officers not to appear before the committee. They were asked to share information via police, but not directly. Not a single officer from the central agencies appeared before us," Pradhan said.

Asked if he complained about this, Pradhan said he had spoken to Chidambaram at the time. "He told us we didn't have powers to investigate central officers, because our Committee was constituted by the state," Pradhan said.

"If the committee had been constituted by the central government, then we would have given you these powers….you know what, the state government constituted the committee in a hurried manner. They thought this was a big deal. They should have discussed with the Centre and announced the committee in the Parliament. So we didn't have any powers. We were not even a police commission. We were just an enquiry committee," said Pradhan.

When asked what he felt he missed working in the committee, Pradhan said he could not find out what was there on the Intelligence agencies' records. "I went to talk to Chidambaram. MK Narayanan was with him then, but he said we can't tell you anything. I asked him did you (have) any input from August 2006. He said I can't even tell you if we had these inputs or not. I said I will mention it in my report. He said you may write, but we will neither say yes, nor say no," Pradhan revealed.
