Relish varieties of idlis at Dombivli idli fest

Here's some good news for foodies in the twin-city, especially those who love south Indian dishes. The month-long Idli Festival at Seethram Snack Centre at Dombivli has started.

With more than 11 types of idlis and different types of chutney, dosa, sambhar and other south Indian snacks, the festival will serve authentic south Indian dishes to the food lovers.

S Vishawanathan, owner of snack centre, has worked in IT sector for 30 years and started this venture in 2014 along with his hotel graduate brother. The duo said, "Our aim is to serve authentic south Indian food to foodies in the city. Our snack centre has completed a year and we wanted to treat people, so have started this month-long festival."

Along with 11 types of idli, 24 types of dosa, chutney and other south Indian snacks is also there. They added, "Plain, kanchipuram, vegetable, rawa, stuffed masala, fried idli, nai idli, dahi, idli pudi, sweet and dry fruit idli are some varieties that will be served."

The price of idli ranges from Rs40 for a plain idli to Rs100 for a dry fruit idli. The owners said that they are receiving overwhelming response and people from Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are coming to attend the feast.

Hemant Gajare, a Thane resident who went for the festival over the weekend, said, "It was a treat for us as after a very long time we had authentic south Indian dishes. Even the kids enjoyed the fest."

Many Thanekars are looking forward to the coming weekend to relish lip-smacking idlis.
