The Vikhroli Metropolitan magistrate court acquitted the driver of a BEST bus, who was accused of dashing his vehicle against a youth. The youth eventually died due to the accident. The court in its order held that the victim was dancing on the road on the occasion of Dahi-Handi.
The case dates back to August 16, 2006, when the victim Shariff Sheikh was dancing on the road, when the BEST bus hit the victim. He was immediately shifted to Rajawadi hospital, where he was declared dead on admission. A case was registered against Ankush Khupse, the driver of the bus.
The court maintained that admissions given show that Sharif was busy in dancing at the spot of the incident. In such circumstances, it can be gathered that Sharif was not attentive to the developments taking place on the road.
