Reliance engineer assaulted by bikers at Prabhadevi

A 29-year-old engineer employed with Reliance Infocom was assaulted along with his colleague by two unknown motorcyclists early on Sunday, who then fled with their equipments worth lakhs of rupees. The victims were laying fiber cables for Reliance Infocom near Siddhivinayak temple at Prabhadevi, the police said.

According to Dadar police the victim, Shushant Shirme, a fiber engineer, was carrying out work of laying fiber cables along with other colleagues at Prabhadevi. At around 1.20 am on Sunday, two unidentified people approached them on a motorbike. The duo got down from their bike and started assaulting Shirme and his colleagues before driving off with their equipment.

In his complaint to the police, Shirme stated that the duo robbed components of their Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) machine worth Rs 5.61 lakh. "The engineer and his colleague the required permission to drill and lay the fiber wire. Their work was about to get over when the duo came on their bike, assaulted the complainant and fled with their equipment," said N B Patil, senior police inspector from Dadar police station. "We believe that the suspects intend to sell the equipment. We have started our investigations."
