Rejected by kin, couple commit suicide

In a tragic end to a love story, a couple committed suicide after their families refused to allow them to marry. The boy allegedly jumped in front of a running train after he was informed that the girl he loved had committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan at her residence in Antop Hill on Sunday.

The deceased girl has been identified as Prema Devendra (21), a resident of Adarsh Gharkul housing society in Antop Hill, while the boy has been identified as Venkatesh P.

A relative of the girl said: "On Sunday morning, Prema had gone to the residence of Venkatesh's sister to plead with his family to allow her to marry him, but they humiliated her." The resulting dejection led her to commit suicide, the relative added.
