Rehabilitate Navi Mumbai airport affected, Cidco told

On Wednesday, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis directed Cidco officials to rehabilitate citizens displaced by the proposed Navi Mumbai airport. The 3,500-odd residents have been provided with three alternative packages for rehabilitation.

The subject was addressed by the CM at a meeting held in Mantralaya on Wednesday. Cidco managing director Bhushan Gagrani, local leaders Prashant Thakur (BJP) and Manohar Bhoir (Shiv Sena), principal secretary to chief minister Praveensinh Pardeshi, principal secretary of Urban Development department Dr Nitin Karir and other administrative officers like V Radha and Tanaji Satre were present for the meeting.

According to Fadnavis, Cidco should ensure that the compensation is based on the valuation of the land around this area. He said that in the next one and half years, Cidco should ensure that amenities like water, roads, electricity and schools are provided to the citizens. He said that the elected representatives along with the officials should reach out to the affected people and clear their doubts, so that there is no agitation against the project. He also said that in addition to providing a handsome package of compensation, Cidco should ensure that people are not facing hurdles in their daily work.

Gagrani said that there are about 3,500 residents who would be displaced and they have been provided with three alternative compensation packages. He added that Cidco was determined to provide houses to these people within a span of 18 months along with all the amenities. At the meeting, some of the senior citizens of the affected areas raised a few doubts which were clarified by the chief minister.
