Regular drive by traffic cops has ensured traffic-free ride in city

The traffic cops have been conducting regular drives at Vartak Nagar, Cadbury, Pokharan road, Naupada and other areas and now less congestion has been observed by the commuters. The commuters want the traffic cops to continue with their activity.

Regular drive by traffic police across the city for the vehicles parked in no parking zone has yield fruitful results, traffic congestion has reduced in few areas to a major extent.

The traffic cops have been conducting regular drives at Vartak Nagar, Cadbury, Pokharan road, Naupada and other areas and now less congestion has been observed by the commuters. The commuters want the traffic cops to continue with their activity.

With limited manpower, Thane traffic department is trying to handle all the areas efficiently. They have been acting proactively on all individual complaints that reaches them either through WhatsApp or over the mail or website.

Rigorous action has been taken by the cops at Gladys Alavares road and other areas. The drive is being repeated on a regular basis to discourage people from parking their vehicles in no parking areas.

Sandesh Shivam, a local said, "Traffic congestion, even during peak hours, has reduced at many areas, including station area, Vartak Nagar, Naupada and others. The commuters are feeling relieved.

DCP traffic Rashmi Karandikar said, "We are doing our best and have been working to make Thane a better city. With limited manpower available, we are giving our best and would try to continue the good work."

"Traffic cops are doing a good but still there is a need to instill traffic sense and fear among people. People think that they can easily get away by paying fine. Hence, the need of the hour is to change their mindset and bring in discipline in oneself," adds Satyajit Shah, an activist.

"Near about 400 traffic staff are serving to a population of some 18 lakh people with a vehicular traffic of near about 13 lakh vehicles," says sources from the department.

The traffic police from their respective areas have been taking regular action and working towards a congestion free city. P Pawar traffic PI, Vartak Nagar, said, "We take action against near about 100 to 200 vehicles on a daily basis from a particular area."
