Red Corner Notice to be issued against US-based NRI in Ali Morani firing case

Mumbai police are in the process to issue a Red Corner Notice against the United States-based NRI event organiser Bittu Singh following his alleged involvement in the firing incident at Bollywood film producer Ali Morani's house in Juhu surfaced.

According to the crime branch, the firing was carried out at Morani's residence because he reportedly refused to pay heed to a gangster's request of giving Singh the rights of overseas promotional event of Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming movie 'Happy New Year'.

"Police officials in Mumbai have been instructed to question every person who has been affiliated with the gangster in the past as well as in the present," said a senior crime branch official.

On August 23, three unidentified men had come on a bike around 10.30 pm and fired three rounds which hit a tree, a parked car and the last one broke the glass window at Morani's Juhu residence.

Soon after, the Mumbai police beefed up security at Morani's house and gave additional cover to actor Shah Rukh Khan at his office and bungalow. A security cover has also been provided to other renowned stars from the 'Happy New Year' movie.

Meanwhile, the police also provided security and a vehicle to the journalist who received a threat from the same gangster. The crime branch have arrested four persons for allegedly attempting to eliminate a city-based journalist at the behest of the gangster.
