RCF police arrests 28-year-old accused of raping six-year-old

The RCF police on Saturday arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl.

As per the police, the accused, who has been identified as Saurabh Rathod, lives is RNA park area of Chembur. The survivor and Rathod are known to each other.

Around 1.45pm on Friday, Rathod approached the girl and lured her to his house on the pretext of giving her sweets. When the girl reached his house, Rathod closed the door and allegedly raped her.

Rathod then let the girl go, but warned her against mentioning the incident to anyone. When she reached home, the girl's parents asked her why she was so scared, following which she narrated the incident to them.

"The victim's parents approached the police and lodged a complaint against Rathod. Acting on the complaint, Rathod was arrested on charges of rape under IPC and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences," said a police officer from RCF police station. The girl was taken to hospital for medical tests.

The accused told the police that there was a financial dispute ongoing between the accused and the girl's family and that the latter was trying to implicate him in the case. Police are now awaiting the medical reports.
