Rash driving in Pune kills three students, injures two

The car driver has been taken under custody and charged with sections 279, 304, 337, 338 and 427 dealing with reckless driving and culpable homicide.

Three students were killed and two others injured when a Tata Indigo Manza rammed into the two scooters that the students were on. The accident took place at 2.30 am on Tuesday on Dehu road.

The deceased have been identified as Sanket Tamel, 21, Kiran Dhane, 23 and Sambhaji Bhalekar, 21. 

"These students were pursuing a masters course in computer application at a college in Nigdi. The car driver was driving rashly and lost control of the car," said an official from the Dehu Road police station.

Two others, Avinash Mane, 21 and S John, 23 survived the accident. "Avinash has been discharged. He was the one who provided the details of the accident. John is being treated at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital," the official added.
